Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Vice Chief, Mohamad Taufik appreciated the construction of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), which was continuing amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, JIS will be one of the stadiums and public spaces for the pride of Jakarta people which has the potential to be developed into the best sport tourism in Indonesia.

"It can be sport tourism, as well as a concert and multifunctional facility. By so, it is capable of covering JIS maintenance. So, please finish it well and on time. This is the hope of Jakarta people and football lovers," he expressed, Sunday (10/24).

He instructed PT Jakarta Propertindo/Jakpro (Perseroda) as the developer and manager of JIS to always consistently recruite and foster the community around the stadium to collaborate in maintaining the security and beauty of the FIFA standard stadium with 82,000 spectators capacity.

"Surely it should bring benefits to the surrounding community," he explained.

PT Jakpro President Director, Widi Amanasto expressed, the realization of JIS construction until the 111th week reached 76.52 percent.

The work on the stadium's superior features has now touched the finishing stage, such as the corporate box, media room, royal lounge, press conference room, and locker room home and away. As for the installation of grass for the main stadium is almost 100 percent.

"InsyaAllah, it is targeted to touch 80 percent by the end of this month," he concluded.

According to him, JIS would not only improve sports performance at the Jakarta to national level, but could restore the role of the North Jakarta area as a new economic center in North Jakarta.

"They (North Jakarta people) can become economic actors around the JIS location. If there is a match or event, they can develop their business there," he exclaimed.

He added, it could also become a new international-scale tourism center which in the future could boost the economy of the surrounding area.

"It was built as an international multi-event stadium that supports the whole community, and supports the vision of a liveable and sustainable city," he stated.

As for the information, JIS will provide about 13,000 square meters of business space, more than 1,300 residences with 238 affordable residences, 14,000 square meters of open space, and 5,700 square meters of public sports facilities.

It is also planned to be integrated with MRT and train stations.
