Stilling Basin is Built in RPTRA Amiterdam Area

Thousand Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is currently building stilling basin in RPTRA Amiterdam, RT 02/03, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands Sub-district.

This stilling basin can overcome tidal flooding

Thousand Islands SDA Sub-agency Head, Hendri conveyed, stilling basin is built to overcome tidal flooding that often occurs in RT 02/03, around RPTRA, and futsal field.

"This stilling basin can overcome tidal flooding by draining the sea water to manhole and stilling basin. When it recedes, flood water will be pumped again into the sea," he explained, Tuesday (11/23).

According to him, stilling basin is built with length 2.5 meters, width 2 meters, and depth 50 centimeters. This stilling basin also equipped with manhole with length 60 centimeters, width 90 centimeters and depth 50 centimeters.

"Manhole is used to hold garbage from entering stilling basin," he mentioned.

His side deployed 10 personnel to build stilling basin and manhole.

"We have started the construction from November 16, 2021 and targeted it to be completed by the end of this month," he closed.
