National Discount Day 2021, Ariza Ensures Jakarta Government's Support for MSMEs

Jakarta Vice Governor, Ariza Patria attended National Discount Day 2021 at Creative Hall, South Jakarta, Saturday (12/4). He ensured full support of Jakarta Government through involvement of assisted MSMEs.

In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation to Bank Mandiri for supporting MSME empowerment in Indonesia by holding the opening of National Discount Day (HDN) 2021.

"Hopefully this activity will be a success for National Movement of 'Bangga Buatan Indonesia' (Proud of Indonesian-made products)," he conveyed.

According to him, HDN 2021 is a promotional event for various well-known local products created by micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Indonesia.

"Hopefully the series of events can bring optimism to MSMEs in Indonesia and help boost economic sector in order to support national economic recovery," he mentioned.

By presenting various local merchants, MSMEs, collaboration partners, and quality products, it is hoped that HDN 2021 will attract visitors to shop for Indonesian-made products. Moreover, MSME has become a sector that has been greatly affected by COVID-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia in the last twenty months.

"This sector is one of main drivers of economy. There are 64.2 million entrepreneurs who absorbing 97 percent of total workforce in Indonesia. MSME's contribution to Gross Domestic Product is 61.07 percent," he said.

Considering the large role of MSME in the Indonesian economy, Ariza continued, support from government, government agencies, private institutions and community in general is needed.

"This discount event is a good effort to attract consumers to shop for products made by MSMEs," he added.

Today's society or consumers are also increasingly critical in shopping for goods and services. He hopes HDN can convince public taht goods and services that being marketed have the best quality at competitive prices. Thus consumers are interested to buy and at the same time reduce public interest in shopping abroad.

This event was also attended ny Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut B. Panjaitan (online); Minister of National-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir (online); Bank Mandiri (Persero) President Director, Darmawan Junaidi; Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo; and MSMEs participating in the event.
