South Jakarta Administration to Close 5 PKL Temporary Settlement

South Jakarta Administration plans to close 5  temporary street vendor (PKL) settlement due to low awareness of PKL in maintain their selling place and makes the citizen worried about their existence.

The places are used by teenagers as base camp. It's disturbed the society much. We often received report regarding this matters

As much as 19 location of temporary settlements spread at some points in South Jakarta. Location about to close are located on Jalan Dharmawangsa Raya, Kebayoran Baru with code JS 37 and JS 33 around Santa market. Both of places are occupied by food and drink traders.

Nurjanah, South Jakarta Small, Middle, and Medium Enterprises Cooperative Agency (KUMKMP) Sub-department Head uttered, the closing of 5 settlement refers to South Jakarta Mayor's instruction.

"The places are used by teenagers as base camp. It's disturbed the society much. We often received report regarding this matter," she explained.

According to her, the traders are given time to move before the demolishment. It's the administration's policy even though the closing letter has been issued in last May.

Wanti (37), one of the traders, admitted she waits for new place to be ready. "We've been given time until the end of this year," she admitted.
