Jakarta Team Evacuates Victim's Body of Mt Semeru Eruption

The Jakarta Disaster Response Collaborative Task Force, succeeded in evacuating a victim's body of Mount Semeru eruption in Kamar Kajang Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro Sub-district, Lumajang, East Java.

This body was found six meters below the surface of the volcanic material in a pathetic condition

Operations Control Division Head, Mulyanto said, they found a body buried in volcanic material. It was allegedly a mine worker who was working when the mount erupted on Saturday afternoon.

"This body was found six meters below the surface of the volcanic material in a pathetic condition. We then bring it to the nearest hospital for further needs," he expressed, during evacuation, Friday (12/10).

Jakarta Disaster Response Collaborative Task Force Commander I, Nurulusianto added, the Search and Rescue Unit (SRU) team, which is part of the Joint SAR Team, had detected the body at the location using a special detector.

"We have detected the location of the victim's body anywhere, we just need to make an evacuation effort," he explained.

He suspected there were still many bodies that needed to be evacuated. However, BMKG informed his team to leave the location immediately as the volcanic activity of Mount Semeru increased during the evacuation process.

"Our work also refers to BMKG information, we have to stop because rainfall and seismic activity have started to increase," he stressed.

Jakarta Satpol PP's Community Protection Division Head, Atok Baroni Hidayat uttered that the team also evacuated villagers to their relatives' homes to evacuate using two trucks.

"We also evacuate their goods and household furniture to a safer place considering at this time it is still dangerous to live in," he asserted.

He added, he said that the health service assistance from Jakarta health workers for villagers of Kamar Kajang Hamlet was conducted directly at their place of residence

"They have checked nine people whose health was checked and given medicine by the Health Office's health worker, one of whom was referred to the nearest puskesmas using an ambulance

"Nine have been examined and received medicine, where one of them is referred to the nearest puskesmas using an ambulance," he stated.
