KPKP-IPB Educates Fish Farming Groups in Panggang Island About Lobster Cultivation

Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency collaborated with Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) to provide education on lobster cultivation to the fostered fish farming groups (Pokdakan) in Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district.

Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-agency Head, Devi Lidya mentioned, this activity was carried out to follow up research result from IPB which stated that Thousand Islands waters, especially in Karang Lebar Island, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Island Sub-district has great potential for lobster cultivation development.
"The water is clean and has minimal silt. This is a good and potential habitat for lobster cultivation," she said, Saturday (12/11).
Juani Yusuf Appreciates Food Assistance Provided to FishermenAccording to him, lobster cultivation education was participated by 30 Pokdakan members from Pramuka and Panggang Islands. The material given was introduction of lobster seeds, cultivation system, assistance, cultivation technology for seeds procurement, and new techniques for lobster cultivation.
"We hope that at the beginning of the year, cultivation can be started and the location will become a new edutourism destination in Thousand Islands," she closed.
