Thousand Islands Provides Assistance to Pokdakan on Panggang Island

The Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency provides assistance to the Fish Cultivator Group (Pokdakan) in Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district.

Fishery and Livestock Division Head Elis Rora said it was done after several times they received fish seed assistance from the KPKP Agency.

She explained that there were a number of obstacles faced during the pandemic such as marketing difficulties due to restaurant operations that had not yet recovered 100 percent and weather.

"We give input thus they do not spread fish seeds first until the rainy season and pandemic ends, it is enough to take care of the seeds that previously existed," he explained.

In Thousand Islands, he added, there were 260 coached members of Pokdakan assisted by the floating net cage (KJA) cultivation system which were members of the Seribu  Kerapu (Thousand Groupers) Forum.

"The types of fish kept are quite diverse, from grouper, snapper to pomfret," she uttered.
