Pesanggrahan River Normalization Project Site Fenced

West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department installed zinc fence barricade along the normalization project of Pesanggrahan River, Kedoya Selatan, West Jakarta. This is conducted following the death of four children who were drowned in the location.

The project location has been closed with zinc fence. But, probably there were people damaging it, thus the four children could come inside and the tragedy happened

According to West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department Maintenance Section, Amir Pangaribuan, the project site is actually had been fenced to prevent unauthorized people from entering. However, the four children were allegedly trespassed the fence to swim.

“The project location has been closed with zinc fence. But, probably there were people damaging it, thus the four children could come inside and the tragedy happened. The project itself is the authority of Public Works Ministry,” he stated, Monday (12/1).

The four children who died were Randi Faturrahman (9), Yoga Ramadhan (12), Eca Sahputra (13), and Adam (13). They were drowned on Sunday (11/30) when looking for sucker-mouth fish (plecostomus) in the digging site.

“When evacuated, their bodies were already rigid and stomachs bloated. They died probably because of swallowing a lot of water. After being autopsied at Graha Kedoya Hospital, their bodies were taken to their homes to be buried,” uttered Kebon Jeruk Sector Police Chief Slamet.
