Jakarta Wins Award for Best Province at 2021 TPAKD Award

The Jakarta administration won the 2021 Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD) Award as the Best Province in the Development of Financial Inclusion Programs in Urban Areas.

This is expected to boost economic growth and improve people's welfare, as well as support national economic recovery

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, directly received the award given by Financial Services Authority (OJK) Chairman Wimboh Santoso, at the National Working Meeting (Rakornas) for TPAKD, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Ballroom, on Thursday (12/16).

Then the Governor thanked the OJK, Bank Indonesia (BI), academics, the public, and related parties who have supported the development and improvement of financial inclusion programs in Jakarta.

He also expressed his gratitude to the ranks of the Jakarta administration for their commitment to increasing financial inclusion in Jakarta. Especially programs for low-income communities, MSMEs, and other community groups that have not been touched by financial products and services so far.

"This award will further strengthen our efforts to create new innovations and breakthroughs to increase financial inclusion and literacy in Jakarta. This is expected to boost economic growth and improve people's welfare, as well as support national economic recovery," he said, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

In collaboration with OJK, BI, academics, and the public, he added, the administration had succeeded in increasing financial inclusion and literacy through various innovative programs.

There were several innovative financial inclusion and literacy programs being conducted including Satu Rekening Satu Pelajar (KEJAR) and JakLingko Goes to School; Green financing in the form of the Savings Movement with Waste and Organic Waste Bioconversion with Maggot BSF.

There was also empowerment of MSMEs through Jakpreneur activities by providing training, assistance, licensing, marketing, and capital to 283,375 MSMEs.

Then, with the Large-Scale Social Collaboration (KSBB) activity, it managed to collect funds from the community to be given to MSMEs in the form of infrastructure and training packages. Further, the collected donations were managed by Fintech collaborators to be distributed to MSMEs as working capital.

Aside that, the administration also has a Micro Waqf Bank as an ultra-micro financing solution.

OJK Chairman, Wimboh Santoso uttered, amid outbreak, the Government together with the Financial Services Industry and other stakeholders have prepared a series of strategic initiatives to face various challenges in the financial services sector in a bid to boost the National Economic Recovery.

"Boosting access to finance in the regions is one of the strategies to support the recovery of the Indonesian economy and the achievement of the financial inclusion target of 90% by 2024. To realize this, the existence and role of the TPAKD is very important," he explained.

TPAKD is a forum to build synergy between OJK and all regional stakeholders, including provincial, district/municipal governments. It has an important function to improve literacy and expand and improve access to regional finance.
