Mud on Ciliwung Riverbank in Gambir Urban Village Cleaned

Total 50 joint personnel were deployed to clean up Ciliwung River banks on Jalan Batu III RW 01, Gambir Urban Village, Gambir Sub-district, Central Jakarta, Sunday (12/19).

Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Irwandi who led Gerebek Lumpur activity mentioned, clean-up action was a routine agenda in order to minimize flooding.

"This is our effort to anticipate flooding. We clean garbage on the riverbank thus it doesn't hinder river water flow, especially when it rains heavily," he mentioned at the location.

Besides, his side also cleaned up mud and pruned trees on the riverbank to make the area look neater and more beautiful.

"Every week, together we clean mud sedimentation, both in rivers, riverbanks, connecting channels, reservoirs and others. Hopefully it can prevent flooding and inundation during the rainy season," he said.

Gambir Urban Village Head, Ahmad Eman Sulaeman conveyed, today's cleaning work was carried out on Jalan Batu III and Jalan Pejambon.

"Hopefully there will be no flooding or inundation in Gambir Urban Village," he added.

As many as 50 personnel were deployed in this activity, including from Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency, Bina Marga Sub-agency, LH Sub-agency, Gulkarmat Sub-agency, PPSU, RT/RW administrators, and LMK administrators.
