There are four types of orchids that are neatly arranged in pots or hanging on the walls of the green house, ranging from Cattleya Orchids, Moon Orchids, Dendrobiums and Squirrels. You can also take selfies with the background of various types of orchid plants with colorful flowers.

Pasar Rebo Sub-district Head, Mujiono said the orchid garden facility is a form of his commitment to realizing Pasar Rebo as the Kampung Sejuta Anggrek (Village with a Million Orchids) in East Jakarta.

"All these orchids are from ASN, sub-district PJLP and TP PKK cadres. In total, there are 300 orchid plants," he said, Wednesday (1/26).

Apart from the sub-district office, other greenhouses could also be found in 53 RWs spread over five urban villages, namely Pekayon, Kalisari, Cijantung, Baru, and Gedong. Some of these orchids are planted in vacant land, RW secretariats and residents' houses.

"We will turn this area into agro-business and agro-tourism areas specifically for orchids, by involving all elements of society, supported by a number of armies in Pasar Rebo," he furthered.

Currently, he added, some of the residents have directly sold orchids online. Moreover, the CSR from cosmetic producer Wardah has also provided assistance of 20,000 orchid plants to 35 farmer groups (poktan) in 53 RWs, six of which are in the army complex.

"The enthusiasm of the people in cultivating orchids makes us confident to realize the Kampung Sejuta Anggrek program," he closed.
