Jakarta Uses Complete Street Concept to Revitalize Sidewalks at Three Spots

The Jakarta Bina Marga Agency has again conducted sidewalk revitalization with the Complete Street concept this year. It is focused on Kebayoran Baru, Pecenongan, and Jalan Proklamasi - Jalan Penataran.

It is centered on both sides of the sidewalk and its drain

Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho said the revitalization work in Kebayoran Baru was conducted on Jalan Cikajang, Jalan Trunojoyo, Jalan Gunawarman, Jalan Pattimura, and Jalan Sultan Hasanudin.

Then in Pecenongan, it was executed on Jalan Juanda and Jalan Pecenongan.

Sidewalk Arrangement Work in 12 Locations in Jakarta Has Been Completed

"It is centered on both sides of the sidewalk and its drain," he explained, Thursday (3/3).

He detailed the length of the sidewalk in Kebayoran Baru would be revitalized to 6,960 meters, followed by Pecenongan with 2,100 meters and Jalan Proklamasi - Jalan Penataran with 3,450 meters.

"It is still in the design process so far and targeted for completion in the forthcoming May," he concluded.

According to him, the Complete Street concept is the revitalization of street space according to its function, such as bike tracks, green belts, and pedestrians.

There are also additional spaces for public transportation and supporting facilities such as street furniture, on-street parking, street light accessories, plants, and chairs. Likewise with utility networks such as utility manholes or ducting systems.

"Principally, it accommodates needs according to the right portion by prioritizing pedestrians, cyclists, and users of public transportation," he stated.
