Sidewalk Arrangement Work in 12 Locations in Jakarta Has Been Completed

Jakarta Government has committed to provide sidewalks that are safe, comfortable, and friendly for people with disabilities. Currently, sidewalk arrangement work in 12 points in Jakarta, consisting of 4 arterial roads and 8 collector roads, has been completed. The sidewalk arrangement work was centered on both sides of the sidewalk along the road including the channel.

Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho mentioned, sidewalk arrangement was carried out in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Jalan Senopati, Jalan Suryo, and Jalan Woltermonginsidi. As well as on Jalan Duri Kosambi, West Jakarta. While arrangement in other locations was conducted by Bina Marga Sub-agency in each regions.

His side arranged sidewalks on Jalan Senopati and Jalan Suryo along 4.4 kilometers, Jalan Woltermonginsidi along 2.7 kilometers, and Jalan Duri Kosambi along 1.8 kilometers.

"Arrangement is carried out on channel first, then sidewalk. Now it has been completed 100 percent, both sidewalk and channel," he informed, Thursday (12/16).

He explained that sidewalk arrangement in Kebayoran Baru and Jalan Duri Kosambi used Complete Street concept by rearranging road space according to its function in ideal and complete manner to accommodate all needs of road users.

He added, Complete Street concept could only be applied to sidewalk with width 3-4 meters. It couldn't be applied on collector road since its width only 1-5-2.5 meters.

"The ideal and complete road function arrangement includes vehicle lane, bicycle lane, green belt, pedestrians, street furniture, and accessories such as PJU, plants, and bench. It includes arrangement of utility networks such as utility manhole or ducting system. Principally, arrangement that accommodates the needs according to the right portion by prioritizing pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users," he said.
