Central Jakarta KPKP Conducts Food Inspection in Five Markets"There will be a discussion with the Jakarta TPID at the beginning of Ramadan. We also coordinated with them yesterday. As a result, according to the KPKP Agency's data, food commodities are still sufficient and safe, such as rice, beef/buffalo, chicken meat, chicken eggs, curly chilies, red cayenne pepper, and garlic," said City's Economic and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati, at Jakarta City Hall, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (3/29).
She hoped that it could maintain stability in food prices in Jakarta thus inflation during Ramadan moment was maintained. The rise in inflation was driven by rising prices, part of which was due to high demand.
Some food commodities will continue to experience price increases in the future in line with high demand during Ramadan and Eid, as well as the implications of rising global commodity prices.
"The administration synergizes and collaborates with the central government, other local governments, and TPID to maintain the availability of food stocks. Thus, Jakarta's inflation remains under control and is within the range of the national inflation target of 3% +- 1%," she expressed.
She went on to say that the TPID continues to monitor price developments and supply adequacy to maintain food price stability amid the pandemic.
"To ensure safe stock, supply, and strengthen the food logistics system, three BUMDs namely Perumda Pasar Jaya, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, and Perumda Dharma Jaya) try to expand and enhance cooperation between regions," she continued.
The TPID was committed and consistent in taking steps, as well as concrete policies in carrying out inflation control strategies according to the Jakarta Provincial Inflation Control Roadmap for 2022-2024, through the 4K strategy, namely Price Affordability, Supply Availability, Smooth Distribution, and Effective Communication.
The efforts made include monitoring prices and strategic food stocks; warehouse; opening cheap market; securing Ramadan stock, holding Jakpreneur bazaar, monitoring the availability of 3-kg LPG cylinders; food quality control; etc.
The administration has also provided a means for the public to monitor food price developments through infopangan.jakarta.go.id. The public could transparently see price developments for strategic food commodities in various markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya.
"They also call on residents to remain optimistic and not panic to maintain the balance of food supply and stock in the market," she added.
