Retention Pond at Jelambar Pump House Dredged

The West Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency has deployed 10 workers to dredge a retention pond as wide as 32 square meters with four meters high, locally known as kolam olakan at the Jelambar Pump House, Jalan Jelambar Selatan II, Jelambar Baru, Grogol Petamburan.

Jelambar Pump House Operator Ricky Parman said the dredging was carried out by picking up waste and mud as deep as 40 centimeters.

'It is done because the pond is full of waste and mud," he expressed, Wednesday (3/20).

He explained the pond serves to collect water from the connecting channel which is then pumped and discharged into the Grogol River when the pond is full. The pump house itself has three pumps with 500-1,000 liters per second capacity.

"This work has been ongoing for three days and is targeted to be completed within a week," he stated.
