The Jakarta administration is again representing Indonesia in the 2022 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes. This year, Indonesia was selected in the nomination category C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life — E-science.
We hope it is capable of handling flooding in Jakarta effectively
Indonesia was nominated through the Flood Control System program which was jointly developed between the Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency and the Jakarta Smart City (JSC) BLUD under the Jakarta Communication, Information, and Statistics (Kominfotik) Agency.
Last year, Jakarta entered the nomination stage via the JAKI application in the Navy category C7. E-Government and won the Champion Project title.
Here is the Progress of 942 Flood Management ProgramsHence, the administration invites all Jakartans to participate in voting in this event which will close tomorrow, March 31.

Get to know the Flood Control System
Through JSC and Jakarta SDA Agency, the administration is currently developing a Flood Management System by utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) based technology
By installing 178 sensor devices in the pump housing, this system can measure rainfall, vibration, temperature, water level, and water flow. This IoT sensor tool is then integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in processing and analyzing data
The workings of the Flood Control System in Jakarta use predictive analysis to determine when the water pump needs to be activated. The historical data of active pumps are identified from the vibration and temperature sensors in each pump
By utilizing trends and patterns, data from water levels from CCTV and water levels from sensors can predict when the pump needs to be activated. The use of this analysis can be active if the IoT implementation is carried out thoroughly in Jakarta
JSC Head Yudhistira Nugraha assessed that the implementation of IoT which was implemented through the Flood Control System would later become one of the bases for decision making related to flood control in Jakarta (data-informed policy).
"By using the collected data, we hope it is capable of handling flooding in Jakarta effectively," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (3/30).
Information about World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a world forum or high-level conference, which was established to support sustainable development or the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by encouraging the development of information and communication technology (ICT).
This annual forum is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Every year, the WSIS Forum holds the WSIS Prizes event to reward ICT projects from around the world.
About JSC, it is a Regional Public Service Agency (BLUD) under the Jakarta Kominfotik Agency.
They have four main principles, namely Mobile First, System and Data Tech, Digital Xperience, and Smart Collaboration.
Those principles become
the credo of the JSC in developing products and services and realizing the smart city 4.0 ecosystem (smart city 4.0 ecosystem), to improve the quality of life and create happiness for Jakarta residents. Visit the JSC website for more information.
