The reservoirs and rivers dredging is optimized by South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency as an effort to prevent flooding.

Actually, it has been going on for several years

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab conveyed, dredging was focused on reservoirs and rivers across 10 sub-districts in South Jakarta.

"It has been going on for several years," he stated, Monday (2/28).

So far, it is being optimized in several reservoirs, one of which is in Setu Mangga Bolong Reservoir, Srengseng Sawah using two heavy equipment.

"In addition to dredging mud, we also arrange the reservoir area thus it is not only used as flood control but also as jogging facilities for residents," he explained.

It was also carried out in five other reservoirs in the Ragunan Zoo area, namely Filter Reservoir with an area of 9,590 square meters; Rakit Reservoir 35,985 square meters; Nila Reservoir 4,333 square meters; L Reservoir 20,402 square meters; and Kramat Reservoir 3,797 square meters.

"In Ragunan Zoo, there is only one location left for dredging, namely Kramat Reservoir, which is still ongoing," he added.

The same actions were also seen in several rivers in South Jakarta, such as Pesanggrahan, Mampang, Grogol, Krukut, Ciliwung, and Cideng rivers.

"This is carried out massively to increase the river's capacity to prevent flooding during heavy rains," he closed.
