KPKP Ensures Safe Food Stock in South Jakarta

Entering Ramadan, the food availability in Jakarta is ensured to be safe.

Staple food has increased by 3.3 percent during Ramadan  compared to normal days

South Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency Head Hasudungan A. Sidabalok mentioned there was an increase in the food demand during Ramadan compared to normal days. However, he made sure the food stock remain safe.

"Staple food has increased by 3.3 percent during Ramadan compared to normal days. Before Eid al-Fitri, it will be increased by around 7.34 percent," he conveyed, Monday (4/4).

According to him, food demand for chicken eggs and beef commodities had increased by around 13 percent.

"But, the increase is relatively low for rice and chili commodities," he added.

Meanwhile, food stocks for rice, beef, chicken, eggs, curly red chilies, and cayenne pepper were also safe until Eid al-Fitr.

"Rice stock is available for 208 tons, beef 7.5 tons, chicken 67.2 tons, chicken eggs 73.1 tons, curly red chilies 8.6 tons, and cayenne pepper 7.1 tons," he informed.

Other food commodities were also safe, including cooking oil with 53.127 tons and sugar with 16.7 tons.

"We're collaborating with various stakeholders to hold cheap markets to help people meet their needs of food," he said.
