PT Transjakarta to Manage Double-decker Buses

Jakarta Provincial Government received donation from Tahir Foundation in form of five double-decker tourism buses. Later, these buses will be managed by PT Transjakarta as city-owned enterprise (BUMD), and operated on the lane where motorcycle ban policy is applied along HI Roundabout – Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat.

“All of its management is done by PT Transjakarta, including the bus drivers,” stated Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, Central Jakarta (12/10).
According to Akbar, these buses will pass on the left lane and passenger’s onboard-off board will only be done at bus stop. There are at least 30 bus stops along the bus’ route, no special bus stop provided for these buses. The bus’ route itself starts from HI Roundabout-Jalan Thamrin-Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat-Harmoni and back to HI Roundabout.

Although the motorcycle ban policy is applied round the clock, the bus will only operate from 5 AM until 10 PM. After the grant administration process completed, these five double-decker tourism buses will be operated coincides with the start of motorcycle ban regulation implementation on upcoming December 17.
“The buses will be operated on December 17. So, now there are a total of 10 buses that can be used,” said Akbar.
