Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department is holding Betawi Tempoe Doeloe culture event at East Flood Canal (KBT), Jalan Basuki Rahmat, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, since yesterday (12/12) until today (12/13). Various entertainment shows and Betawi arts are presented in the event that aims to introduce KBT as one of tourist destinations in Jakarta.

This event is deliberately held to entertain the public. Those who missed with Betawi culture are invited to come to KBT and guaranteed they could have nostalgic. This is free of charge

One of performers that enliven the event is Jiung Band that sings Benjamin S songs. The visitors are also entertained by a variety of contest attractions and other events such as kite competitions, rowboat attraction, traditional outdoor movie screenings (layar tancap), and lanterns festival until fireworks show.

“Besides preserving Betawi cultures, this event also provides an opportunity for the public to interact and show up their talents and potentials, especially related to Betawi arts,” stated Head of Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department Community Empowerment Division Profession Human Resources Section, Sita, Friday (12/12).

Meanwhile, Betawi Tempoe Doeloe culture event’s chief organizer, Ruly Bayu, told that this event is free of charge. In addition to presenting Jiung Band, a number of famous bands are also performing, such as Rif, Naff, and Radja.

For today, Saturday (12/13), in the afternoon there will be decorative boat contest, barongsai dragon dance, kite contest participated by 200 people, and communal work that involves local people to clean KBT.
