Latest Data on COVID-19 Cases and Vaccination in Jakarta as of April 21, 2022

The Jakarta Government continues to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past week, 51,704 people were tested using PCR

Jakarta Health Agency's Disease Prevention and Control Division Head, Dwi Oktavia explained, based on the latest data from Jakarta Health Agency, the number of active cases in Jakarta today declined by 268 cases, thus total active cases as of today reached 1,928 cases (people who are still in treatment/isolation).

"People should be aware of Omicron variant transmission which is on the rise in Jakarta. While COVID-19 vaccination is still proceeding with a broader scope, 3T should be intensified," she said according to a press release issued by Jakarta PPID on Thursday (4/21).

Data from the Jakarta Health Agency detailed that from a total of 9,748 PCR specimens, 7,843 people had been tested today to diagnose new cases which resulted in 159 positive and 7,684 negative cases.

Antigen test was also carried out today on 19,664 people with 71 positive and 19,593 negative results. Please note that positive antigen results in Jakarta were not included in total positive cases because all of them were reconfirmed by PCR.

From total positive cases, 1,229,206 people recovered with a recovery rate of 98.6% and 15,258 people died with a mortality rate of 1.2%. While the mortality rate in Indonesia reached 2.6%.

On the other hand, the WHO test targets 1,000 people using PCR per one million population per week (not specimens), meaning that the WHO target for Jakarta is at least 10,645 people should be tested per week.

"This target has been exceeded by Jakarta for some time. In the past week, 51,704 people were tested using PCR. While the number of people tested for PCR in Jakarta has now reached 993,335 per million population," she added.

The positivity rate in Jakarta in the past week reached 2.8%, while the percentage of positive cases in total reached 11.8%. WHO also set standard positive cases percentage should be no more than 5%.

Meanwhile, the vaccination program is continued. The first dose had been given to 12,516,560 people (124.1%) with a proportion of 70.3% of them were residents with Jakarta ID cards and 29.7% residents with non-Jakarta ID cards. From that amount, 2,480 people had been injected with the first dose today.

The second dose had been given to 10,645,942 people (105.6%) with a proportion of 73.5% of them were residents with Jakarta ID cards and 26.5% residents with non-Jakarta ID cards. Of that amount, 3,849 people had been injected with the second dose today.

The third dose (booster) had been given to 3,422,660 people as of today. Of that amount, 43,794 people had been injected with the third dose today.

Jakarta Satpol PP also gives sanctions for anyone who does not wear a mask and violates health protocols and intensifies guest book data collection, as well as other forms of PPKM violations, such as in restaurants, business places, and industrial places. The imposed sanctions are in form of social work, fines, temporary suspension of activity, and revocation of business license.

Based on the daily report submitted by Jakarta Satpol PP on April 20, 2022, they had conducted a mask operation with a collected fine of Rp 450,000. Hopefully, all residents could be more disciplined and participated in breaking the chain of COVID-19 transmission.
