The Jakarta Information Commission (KI) held a virtual public discussion with the theme of 'Jakarta After State Capital Relocation'.

The point is, we want to encourage open government and involvement of public participation

The discussion was opened directly by Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria and enlivened by resource persons namely Member of Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Ahmad Dolly Kurnia, Member of DPD Daylimi Firdaus, Member of Jakarta Council (DPRD) Mujiyono, senior researcher Siti Zuhro, Jakarta Bappeda Head Nasrudin Djoko Surjono, and Jakarta KI Deputy Chairperson Harminus Koto.

"We understand and return to Law (UU) No. 14/2008 on Public Information Openness," he mentioned, Tuesday (4/26).

Therefore, he held this public discussion as an effort to guarantee the citizens' rights to receive information related to public policy. Second, he hoped the activity to encourage public participation in public policy.

Third, increasing public participation in public policy. Fourth, realizing a good, transparent, effective, efficient, accountable, and responsive governance.

Then, fifth, aiming to find out public reasons that affect the lives of many people. Sixth, aiming to develop science and educate a nation. Seventh, Improving information management to produce quality information for the public.

"The point is, we want to encourage open government and involvement of public participation," he asserted.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said the agenda for relocating the state capital had been strengthened by Law (UU) No. 3/2022 on State Capital which had been formally stipulated since February 15, 2022. According to him, Jakarta must prepare itself when the time comes for it to no longer be a capital city.

"We at the provincial government, together with academics, community leaders, and other elements are trying to compile an academic text about Jakarta's specificity as a legal umbrella to accommodate Jakarta's interest to be a better city after it is not a capital city," he conveyed.

He assessed that Jakartans had a dream to make Jakarta a leading city. Moreover, President Jokowi had said that moving to the capital city did not mean leaving Jakarta.

Currently, Jakarta had transformed into a significant city with all advantages that other cities desire. Apart from having infrastructure, Jakarta also had the best public services in Indonesia.

He expressed that Jakarta wouldn't lose its attractiveness, because it became the center of the Indonesian economy. It was proven that in its contribution to GDP in 2021, Jakarta's acquisition reached 17.9% of the national figure.

For that reason, 2023-2026 regional development planning was prepared with a vision to make Jakarta a world metropolitan city. The development would focus on the government sector, human resources, infrastructure, and resource management to finance Jakarta's growth even more rapidly.

Besides, details about the challenges after moving state capital city should be considered thus all public agencies can provide an optimal service. If all public bodies could provide optimal service, they were expected to maintain public trust.

"Jakarta's foundation to become a world metropolis has earned the trust and love of the public. God willing, our governance will get better," he closed.
