JIS to Hold Mass Eid Prayers 1443 Hijri

The Central Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Chairperson Muhammad Cholil Nafis is scheduled to act as a preacher at Eid Prayer 1443 Hijri which will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Jakarta Secretariat (Sekda) Education and Mental Spiritual (Dikmental) Bureau's Mental Spiritual Division Head Aceng Zaeni conveyed that the Eid prayer would be centered in the west ramp area. Thousands of congregations were expected to attend the Eid prayer.

"It is estimated that around 6-8 thousand people will attend. If the number is more than that, we will use the south concord area," he said, Wednesday (4/27 ).

The southern area could accommodate up to 14,000 worshipers. His side also prepared JIS east ramp as a prayer area to anticipate the congregations who attended exceeding the estimate.

For information, the JIS parking area could accommodate up to 1,295 four-wheeled vehicles. While the ITF area would be used as a two-wheeled vehicles parking lot with a capacity of up to 1,100 motorbikes.

Moreover, parking lots in shops, UNTAG campus, and Arcici Hotel would be also used to accommodate worshipers' vehicles if parking spaces in JIS and ITF could not accommodate any more vehicles.

He urged worshipers who would perform Eid prayer at JIS to always comply with health protocols by wearing masks, bringing their prayer mat, tumbler, and eco-friendly slipper/shoe bag since his side wouldn't provide a place for storing slippers or shoes.

"It is better for worshipers to perform ablution from home. We also suggest them not using newspapers as their prayer mat, not carrying single-use plastic packaged drinks, and not littering the area after Eid prayer," he asserted.
