2,450 Trees will Reforest West Jakarta

West Jakarta Administration keeps trying to mitigate the impact of flooding during the rainy season. One of them is by planting 2,450 tree trunks. This is because it is deemed effectively absorbing water.

Of the 2,450 trees, 650 trees will be planted in Kembangan
Sub-District, 450 trees in Kalideres Sub-District, 450 trees in Cengkareng Sub-District,
450 trees in Kebon Jeruk Sub-District, and 450 trees in Grogol Petamburan
Sub-District.
"Thus far, we are conducting an inventory of the
location thus it will no longer exposed to the government project. Besides
greening, the trees can also absorb water," said Head of West Jakarta
Parks Department, Arifin Jauhari, Friday (12/16).
He explains types of trees that had been prepared are
mahogany (700 trees), flamboyant (450 trees), tamarind (800 trees), glodokan
(250 trees), and tanjung (250 trees). "The tree planting is prioritized in
locations affected the government project," he expressed.
Based on the data of West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, as
may as 164 trees in three areas have been cut down due to government project.
They are located along Jalan Tubagus Angke (13 trees), Angke River's waterway
project (31 trees), and drain normalization on Jalan Panjang (120 trees).
