500 Tons of Trash Transported From Kebon Jahe River

As many as 500 tons of trash are transported in a communal work at the Kebon Jahe River, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Sunday (12/21). More than thousands of people were involved in such activity which aims to anticipate flooding in the future.
The river passes two urban villages, namely RW 1, Cengkareng Timur Urban Village and RW 12, Cengkareng Barat Urban Village, and empties into Cengkareng Drain River
West Jakarta Mayor, Anas Effendi led the activity said condition of Kebon Jahe River as wide as 6 meters is very worrying. "The river is strewn with trash and water hyacinth. That's why we clean up the river in order to anticipate flooding in the rainy season," he expressed, Sunday (12/21).
Head of Cengkareng Sub-District, Ali Maulana Hakim expressed besides locals, the activity is also participated by ranks of West Jakarta Administration, Satpol PP, army/police, mass organization and two urban villages.
1,500 TNI Personnel Cleaned Ciliwung River"The river passes two urban villages, namely RW 1, Cengkareng Timur Urban Village and RW 12, Cengkareng Barat Urban Village, and empties into Cengkareng Drain River," he told.
They clean up the river up to 1.5 kilometers long using two excavators and dozens of trucks.
"Based on the information gathered, more than 500 tons of trash transported. By so, water can flow well to Cengkareng Drain River and anticipate flooding in Kapuk area," he stated.
