FEO Anticipates Weather Conditions Amid Formula E Race

The Formula E Operation (FEO) has stated its readiness to anticipate extreme weather conditions during the Formula E race in Ancol, North Jakarta.

The drainage is very well designed to help water seep quickly to the bottom thus it doesn't cause puddles and disrupt the race

FEO's Safety, Health and Environment (HSE) Consultant Richard Bate ensured the facilities and infrastructure of Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol are ready to face heavy rainfall. His party also prepared mitigation in case of rain for a long period.

The results of race track infrastructure review from technicians and engineers showed that PT. Jakpro had prepared special drainage to channel excess water volume. It was important to prevent standing water on the track that could potentially disrupt the race.

City Legislator Expects Formula E to Have Positive Impact on Economy

"The drainage is very well designed to help water seep quickly to the bottom thus it doesn't cause puddles and disrupt the race," he said, Wednesday (6/1).

His party had gone through many races in various seasons and various countries in the world. Facing the weather situation in Indonesia, he was certain that his party could accommodate the needs according to the circumstances.

"We have prepared various plans and mitigations to deal with various weather conditions," he asserted.

Regarding the safety of the audience in general, he explained that he would direct everyone to get down from the stands if the weather was very bad, such as during strong winds.

FEO Event Director Gemma Serra added it would be no problem for the race if it was just regular rain like what has happened recently. It was because the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit was designed with a lot of drainages.

However, if suddenly the weather turned to be extreme such as a thunderstorm accompanied by strong winds for a long time and the race marshal saw a lot of puddles on the track, then the race would be suspended.

"The recent rainfall tends not to threaten the race. Besides, the drainage has been designed very well," he stated.
