Katulampa in Alert 3, Citizens Urged to Be Wary of Floods

Heavy rain that showers Jakarta and Bogor since noon on Friday (12/26), causing water level at the Katulampa Sluice Gate showed on level alert-III. Jakarta residents living on the banks of Ciliwung River are urged to be vigilant the coming flood. 

There are two sluice gates showing on alert-III, namely Katulampa and Karet

Based on the data of Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) mentions water level in some sluice gates risen gradually. Among them are Katulampa Sluice Gate with 40 cm to 50 cm and then risen 120 cm or show on alert-III at 5.44 PM, and Karet Sluice Gate 500 cm or show on level alert-III.

"There are two sluice gates showing on alert-III, namely Katulampa and Karet," said Ratman, an officer of Jakarta BPBD, Friday (12/26).

He added water level in other sluice gates is still varied. They are Depok, Manggarai, Krukut Hulu, Pesanggrahan, Angke Hulu, Cipinang, Sunter Hulu, and Pulogadung, that are still on level alert-IV.

Therefore, residents living in eight urban villages that passed by Ciliwung River are urged to be vigilant in anticipating floodwater. Those urban villages consist of Rawajati, Kalibata, Pengadegan, Gang Arus Cawang, Kebon Baru, Bukit Duri, Bidara Cina, and Kampung Melayu. As for the water flow from Katulampa towards Jakarta take 6-9 hours.
