BPS: Room Occupancy Rate for Star Hotels in Jakarta Increases

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded the Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) for Star Hotels in Jakarta in May 2022 at 51.8 percent.

The TPK for Star Hotels in 2022 is still higher than in 2021

The figure increased by six percent compared to TPK for Star Hotels in April 2022 (m-to-m) or an increase of 6.6 percent compared to May 2021 (y-to-y).

"The TPK for Star Hotels in 2022 is still higher than in 2021, except for April 2021," said Jakarta BPS Head Anggoro Dwitjahyono, Thursday (7/14).

Jakarta Sees Increase in Foreign Tourists

Based on class, the TPK for 2-star hotels in 2022 was 55.5 percent, or the highest compared to other star hotel classes. When compared to April 2022 (m-to-m), the TPK of 1- to 5-star hotels increased with the largest increase in 3-star hotels.

"From the position of 42.9 percent in April 2022 to 50.7 percent in May 2022 or increased to 7.8 percent," he explained.

While the average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests in May 2022 was 1.90 days or decreased by 0.09 days compared to April 2022 (m-to-m) and decreased by 0.33 days compared to May 2021 (y- on-y).

“If broken down by guest type, the average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests decreased compared to the previous month (m-to-m) of 0.24 days and 0.09 days, respectively," he explained.

According to him, the proportion of foreign guests staying at star hotels in Jakarta in May 2022 was 6.7 percent or higher than in April 2022 (m-to-m) by 6.4 percent and May 2021 (y-on-y) by 5.2 percent.

"The proportion of foreign and Indonesian guests staying by star class, 5-star hotels are the main choice for foreign guests to stay at 49.1 percent. Then Indonesian guests chose to stay at 3-star hotels by 41.3 percent," he closed.
