BPS Releases Inflation Data to Harvest Area in Jakarta

Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the Official Statistics News (BRS) on inflation, exports, imports, foreign tourists, Hotel Occupancy Rate (TPK), harvested area, and rice production in 2021.

During February, there is 0.05 percent deflation

Jakarta BPS Head, Anggoro Dwitjahyono said, throughout February 2022, the prices of goods and services in the capital were under control well.

"During February, there is 0.05 percent deflation. Each group of goods and services has a different contribution to inflation," he explained, Wednesday (3/2).

BPS: Jakarta's Economy Grows 3.56 Percent

Below are the groups of goods and services that experienced inflation:

- Common: -0.05 percent

- Food, Drinks, and Tobacco: 1.15 percent

- Clothing and Footwear: -0.21 percent

- Housing, Water, Electricity and Household Fuel: 0.08 percent

- Equipment and Routine Maintenance of Household: 0.21 percent

- Health: 0.74 percent

- Transportation: 0.44 percent

- Information, Communication, and Finance Service: -0.02 percent

- Recreation, Sport, and Culture: 0.75 percent

- Education: 0.14 percent

- Food and Beverage Provision: 0.78 percent

- Personal Care and Other Services: 0.36 percent

In January 2022, he furthered, exports of goods and services reached USD 10 billion, up 3.3 percent compared to the previous month (m to m). It was in line with the same month a year earlier, where exports of goods and services from Jakarta rose 20.6 percent (y-on-y).

"Jakarta's imports in January 2022 were recorded at USD 6.7 billion, down 2.1 percent compared to the previous month (m-to-m). But, when compared to January 2021, Jakarta's imports rose 48.9 percent (y-on-y)," he furthered.

While for the number of foreign tourists visiting Jakarta reached 14.0 89 visits, down 15.88 percent compared to the previous month (m-to-m).

It was much different from the same period last year, which was 1,248 visits, an increase of 1,028.93 percent.

Then the ROR for star hotels was recorded at 52.3 percent, down 6.5 percent compared to the previous month (m-to-m). When compared to January 2021, the ROR in January 2022 rose 11.2 percent (y-on-y).

He added the realization of the rice harvested area in 2021 was recorded at 559.97 hectares or a decrease of 38.77 percent compared to 2020. In the same year, rice production in Jakarta also declined to 3,249.47 tons of GKG, or 18.75 percent compared to 2020.

"The potential area for rice harvest in the period January - April 2022 is estimated at 214.10 hectares with a potential rice production of 1,106.39 tons GKG," he stated.
