Vice Governor Hopes Tourism Organizations Strengthen Collaboration to Make Jakarta a Global Tourism Destination

Collaboration is very important in every implementation of the development of Jakarta in a bid to realize a developed city for happier people. One of them is in the tourism sector which is one of the economic backbones of the capital.

The statement was stated by Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria when he attended the opening of the Regional Conference on the Regional Representatives Council of the 2022 Indonesian Recreational Park Business Association (Musda DPD PUTRI) entitled "Collaboration to Develop Tourism Destinations and the Creative Economy of Jakarta".

PUTRI as a tourism organization, he hoped, could strengthen collaboration in realizing Jakarta as a 'Global Tourism Destination'. The development of the world of tourism also requires collaboration between business actors in the tourism sector. The challenge of tourism management is not in the competition between Domestic Recreation Parks but how together they can play a role in attracting local and global tourists.

"Jakarta is the prima donna of tourism that excels in Asia. I understand how difficult the role of you all is to lead tourism. The tourism sector is most affected by the pandemic. This is a big challenge in the economic field. That's why how important the tourism sector is," he expressed, at the Putri Duyung Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, North Jakarta, as quoted from Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (8/10).

Thereby, tourism organizations such as PUTRI needed to develop strategies and synergies between tourist destinations through the concept of 'long stay' tour packages.

"With PUTRI, recreational park caretakers can avoid fighting and weakening each other. I believe that tourism is not a zero-sum game, all parties must win and work together," he explained.

He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the potential for developing tourism destinations, tourism marketing, tourism industry, and tourism institutions. Aside that, tourism development must be based on community empowerment that adopts a complete and sustainable system.

That was why various strategies were needed to revive the tourism sector. That was the strategy in creating recreational parks in Indonesia, especially in the city that makes visitors happy, interested, and impressed. Thus, they still remember the entertainment and the educational elements after returning home.

"Tourism areas need to be supported by food and beverage restaurants to attractive cafes. We must work together to attract local and global tourists. Thus far, in Jakarta, we are developing the Seribu Islands with the concept of a thousand islands being drafted. Hope it can be one of the best in the world just like Bali. This is being pursued to become a national strategic program," he explained.

There are currently many corners of the city of Jakarta that are considered "instagramable" and worth a visit. It is a big capital that can be used by PUTRI to make Jakarta a leading local and international tourist destination in Indonesia. PUTRI has played a major role in advancing the world of tourism in Indonesia and is also a tourism association whose mission is to make Indonesia the leading tourism prima donna in Asia.

He hoped that today's event could also be great momentum for this great work to improve the world of tourism in Jakarta. Hopefully, in the new management, the role of DPD PUTRI could continue to increase and color the rise of the tourism world in Jakarta.
