Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat hoped East Jakarta could be sterile from illegal building as soon as possible, particularly those located on the riverbank and under the flyover.
If they do not have a clear identity, they will be sent to hometown. If not, we will have difficulties to control them later
According to him, the existence of illegal buildings in forbidden areas is the impact of ignorance factor in the past. It led to social vulnerability in the future.
Djarot: Flood Handling in East Jakarta Must Not Fail"Do not let it (ignorance) happen again in future. Everything has to be orderly because we want to humanize humans," he stressed when he visited the East Jakarta Mayor's office, Thursday (1/15).
He disclosed, it has been going on for ten years. This is because many officials are easily bribed, influencing the city's spatial planning management.
"New officials must have integrity and are not easily bribed," he asserted.
On the other hand, he had instructed the entire apparatus, particularly sub-district and urban village heads to immediately survey illegal building owners and street vendors.
"If they do not have a clear identity, they will be sent to hometown. If not, we will have difficulties to control them later," exclaimed Djarot.
He also threatened to demote civil servants who are caught conducting illegal payments to illegal building owners and street vendors.
"If they (civil servants) are doing illegal levies with illegal building owners and street vendors, we will surely demote them," he threatened.
