Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti held a meeting with directors of PT Transjakarta at the Fairmont Hotel, Jalan Asia Africa, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Monday (8/29).
"This meeting is held to compare the existence of land transportation, services, and the electrification of land transportation in Jakarta and Los Angeles," said PT Transjakarta President Director, Mochammad Yana Aditya.
Jakarta Gears Up to Host U20 Mayors Summit, Discussing Post-Pandemic City ChallengesAccording to him, the meeting results would be the material for PT Transjakarta about the potential cooperation between Jakarta and Los Angeles, especially the development and management of land transportation in the future.
"Transjakarta also opens up opportunities for collaboration with Los Angeles in the field of public transportation, as the two cities are vying to achieve net zero emissions," he expressed.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti expressed that Jakarta and Los Angeles have something in common, where the population is almost the same, namely 10 million people. They also have the same issues including traffic jams and pollution.
"That's why they have the same aim to create zero emissions and improve people's quality of life," he uttered.
After the meeting, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti accompanied by PT Transjakarta Operations and Safety Director Yoga Adiwinarto tried out by taking the Transjakarta electric bus from the Fairmont Hotel to the CSW Integration Bus Stop, South Jakarta, and back to the hotel.
