JIF 2022, Jakarta is Promoted as an Investment Friendly City and Supports Livable Sustainable City

The Jakarta Provincial Government is collaborating with the U20 Mayors Summit and Bank Indonesia (BI) to hold an annual international investment forum, namely the Jakarta Investment Forum (JIF) 2022.

It was held offline at the Fairmont Hotel, South Jakarta, as well as online via the zoom meeting application and broadcast live streaming through the Jakarta Provincial Government Youtube channel and the Jakarta Service Youtube.
The theme was "Investing in Resilience" which aims to promote Jakarta as an investment-friendly city while supporting sustainable and livable city development. It is in line with the priority issue of the U20 Summit: “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”.
Governor Anies Hopes JIF 2022 Awakens Economy and Investment Climate in JakartaAs an integrated event of the U20 Mayors Summit, JIF 2022 has the same focus, namely post-pandemic challenges and climate change. As known, the Jakarta government has the vision to build more livable and sustainable cities.
In 2009, Jakarta was committed to reducing 30% of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. Meanwhile, in 2021, it reached 26% of the target.
As the largest megapolitan city in the southern hemisphere, Jakarta faces several major challenges. Thereby, in solving Jakarta's issues and making Jakarta a livable city, the government needs collaboration involving various parties such as the participation of the community, business entities, private sector, and investors.
Through JIF 2022, the government would like to discuss all the challenges and policies needed to encourage green investments in Jakarta. The forum was expected to encourage sustainable investment, and realize net-zero emissions by 2050 for future generations.
The forum also provides a meeting point for public officials, investors, investors, and potential project owners to explore various potential investment collaborations in Jakarta.
Responding to this matter, Economics and Finance Assistant Sri Haryati who was present in person at the JIF 2002 Opening Ceremony as well as the speaker of the discussion session entitled Sustainable Food System, asserted that the investors present expressed interest in the potential projects offered.
She hoped that the meeting could lead to interactions that could lead to the realization of investment in Jakarta, between investors and owners of potential projects offered in the forum.
"Jakarta DPMPTSP through the Jakarta Investment Center together with the related OPD leaders and BUMD are also ready to provide detailed explanations about potential projects in the Meet the Leaders session. Hopefully, after this event, investors will realize an investment in potential projects thus sustainable development in Jakarta can be realized," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (9/1).
Jakarta DPMPTSP Head, Benni Aguscandra uttered that his party would promote and facilitate investors in obtaining information about potential projects for the sustainable development of Jakarta.
"At least 15 potential sustainable green investment projects offered from 7 BUMDs, with an estimated investment value of Rp 280 trillion. These projects are including infrastructure, transportation, Transit Oriented Development (TOD), renewable energy, health, tourism, and waste management. Participants can explore various potential projects offered at the project booth that has been provided," he explained.
As for the information, there are 793 participants in the forum. It is participated by eight ambassadors from Korea, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Singapore, South Africa, Qatar, Bahrain, and Morocco. There are also United Kingdom, Germany, Netherland, Kuwait, France, Denmark, Spain, Czech, Turkey, and others; as well as business actors, both from within and outside the country.
Then seven Jakarta BUMDs that attended are PT Transport Jakarta (Transjakarta), PT Jakarta Propertindo (JakPro), PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya, PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP), and Jakarta Experience Board (JXB).
There are also leaders of Regional Apparatus Organizations who are members of the Meet the Leaders session with the Jakarta Investment Center, including the Regional Development Planning Agency; Regional Asset Management Agency; Regional Revenue Agency; DPMPTSP; CKTRP Agency; Environmental Agency; Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency; Water Resources Agency; KPKP Agency, and; Bureau of Development and Environment.
This event also presents potential projects from BUMD that can be collaborated with potential investors through an investment mechanism and facilitates meetings between investors and stakeholders through Meet the Leaders, One on One Meetings, and BUMD Networking Sessions.
Aside that, the meeting also presented discussions on investment opportunities in Jakarta, such as a Sustainable Food System, Waste Management through Circular Economy, and Public Private Partnership (PPP) Green Investment to encourage sustainable projects, as well as collaboration with the British Embassy to present thematic discussions with the theme Funding Infrastructure: Unlocking Multi-Resources in Structuring the Project.
Three BUMDs Sign LoI with Korean and French Companies in JIF 2022
Three BUMDs signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with collaborators. It marks Jakarta's concrete action in developing sustainable development through global collaboration.
First, PT MRT Jakarta was represented by the Business Development Director for MRT Jakarta with a consortium consisting of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND), Korea National Railway (KNR), and Samsung C&T, namely the LoI related to MRT Jakarta Phase 4.
The signing was witnessed by PT MRT Jakarta President Director, Muhammad Aprindy. Then the same signing was also conducted by PT Jakarta Propertindo through President Director, Widi Amanasto and Syctom - The Greater Paris Metropolitan Waste Management that is represented by Institutional Relations Head Caroline Chai. It was witnessed by Fellow at Global Solutions Initiative and President, Grand Paris Alliance for Metropolitan Development, Nicolas Buchoud.
Both parties will cooperate in the waste management sector and its processing facilities. Lastly, there is Perumda Paljaya, represented by the President Director, Aris Supriyanto, and another French company, SIIAP - Greater Paris Sanitation Authority, represented by the Representative of SIAAP, Caroline Chal.
The Lol signing on cooperation in the field of wastewater management was witnessed by the Fellow at Global Solutions Initiative and President, Grand Paris Alliance for Metropolitan Development, Nicolas Buchoud.
