City Involves Developers to Accommodate Asian Games Athletes

Jakarta Provincial Government will host the international sports event in the 2018 Asian Games. Some preparations continue to be prepared, including by building an athlete guesthouse in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, which will involve three major developers.

Head of Jakarta Financial Management Body (BPKD), Heru Budi Hartono disclosed the number of athletes and officials who came is reaching tens of thousands. He also involves three developers to build a hotel or apartment within two years ahead

"We also cooperate with some developers. If they want to build the apartment or hotel, I want they do not sell it. We will rent it for athletes and officials," he stated, Saturday (1/24).

Those three developers are Sinarmas, Agung Sedayu Group, and Agung Podomoro Group. They were willing to assist Jakarta government to smoothen the event. But there will be no compensation. Nevertheless, the rental cost will remain be paid off.

"We will rent the hotel at least 10 days," he expressed.

He mentions although the athlete guesthouse is built, yet cooperation with developers is very important. "This is due to lack of room in the guesthouse, considering it would also be occupied  by officials, teams, families, bodyguards, etc," he expressed,

Hartono admitted, fund for apartment and hotel rental cost will be budgeted in 2018. It coincided with the implementation of the Asian Games. While the infrastructure development fund to support the event this year lies in some Regional Working Units (SKPD).

"Higher fund lies in Jakarta Sports and Youth Department for repairing sport venues," he uttered.
