Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono has said that the Ancol Sentiong Pumping Station construction project which is on Jalan RE Martadinata, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta must be accelerated.
I want it to be finished quickly for immediate use
According to him, the Ancol Sentiong Pumping Station was built to deal with the problem of flooding or inundation that occurred in nine urban villages spread across Tanjung Priok, Pademangan, and Kemayoran sub-districts.
It has five pumps with 10 cubic meters per second capacity which means it has a total capacity of 50 cubic meters per second. As for the Ancol Pumping Station has three pumps with 3.5-5.5 cubic meters per second capacity.
Heru Meets Transportation Minister to Discuss Mass Transportation in Jakarta"I want it to be finished quickly for immediate use," he explained, when he monitored the construction of the Ancol Sentiong Pump Station, Monday (10/24).
According to him, the pumping station, which stands on 2,500-hectare land, is one of the government's projects to improve the water system in Jakarta.
“Flooding and inundation in several urban villages can be overcome or utilized by this project. We want to resolve it soon, instead of later," he stressed.
Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) Head, Bambang Heri Mulyono explained two pumps would be imported from the UK next month and the installation would be done at the Sentiong Pumping Station. Then the other three pumps will be shipped next year.
With this project, flood-prone areas such as Kemayoran, Sunter to Jalan Yos Sudarso, including Kampung Bandan could be served.
“The pump will serve Sunter Agung and Sunter Jaya and help the Kemayoran and Kampung Bandan areas. That's to slow the water down. Even though the sea level rises, we will keep monitoring it in anticipation of flooding," he uttered.
