MRT Explores Urban Railway Business Development Cooperation

PT MRT Jakarta is exploring cooperation with the East Japan Railway Company regarding the development of the urban railway business.

We welcome this collaboration

Potential collaborations that are being explored include business development in consulting services, assessment of planning or preparation for the operation and maintenance of railways, and business development in terms of transit-oriented areas in Jakarta.

PT MRT's Operational and Maintenance Director, Muhammad Effendi said the potential for other cooperation is in the supply of spare parts and equipment for the railways.

"The potential for cooperation in terms of DX Solutions, and sharing knowledge on other matters related to the agreement of the two parties," he expressed, Tuesday (11/1).

He explained that the potential for this collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding related to Urban Railway Business Development.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will last for the next year. PT MRT Jakarta will hold a TOD Forum in Tokyo, Japan in the near future and invite JR East to participate in the event.

"We welcome this collaboration. MRT Jakarta already has a good relationship with JR East. I'm sure there will be many things that we can learn from JR East, which has been operating for 150 years,” he stated.
