Here are 14 Parks for Flood Control in East Jakarta

One of the functions of parks and city forests is to control flooding

Besides relying on the construction of dams, reservoirs, lakes, and water channels, the East Jakarta administration has also prepared 14 parks and five city forests equipped with retention ponds in order to minimize inundation and flooding.

East Jakarta Parks and City Forests Sub-agency Head, Djauhar Arifin mentioned that the 14 parks have a retention pond as wide as 84,323 square meters and five city forests with a retention lake as wide as 142,871 square meters. In total, the width is about 227,194 square meters.

"One of the functions of parks and city forests is to control flooding. In East Jakarta, there are 14 parks and five city forests which are all functioning properly," he said, Tuesday (11/8).

He explained the ecological function of green open spaces is in parks, urban forests, green belts, and cemeteries. The park also functions as an air freshener, influence, improve microclimate, absorb rainwater, flood control, regulate water management, maintain ecosystems, protect germplasm, and softener of building architecture.

He detailed that those 14 parks that have the potential to be flood control are respectively Bambu Park on Jalan Pagelarang, Setu, Cipayung as wide as 2,458.72 square meters.

There is also Kembang Sepatu Park, Setu as wide as 1,027 square meters, Mandor Hasan Park, Bambu Apus as wide as 455.61 square meters, PPA Depsos Park 1 and 2, Bambu Apus as wide as 687.58 square meters, Cempaka Park, Cilangkap as wide as 12.326.89 square meters.

Then Bluntas Park on Jalan Manunggal II, Ceger as wide as 14,516 square meters, Salix Park, Pondok Ranggon as wide as 5.338 square meters, Al Umar 1 Park, Lubang Buaya as wide as 943.50 square meters, Kumis Kucing Park on Jalan Kumis Kucing, Cibubur as wide as 816.56 square meters.

Abdul Rachman Park, Cibubur as wide as 565.8 square meters, Palem Park, Ciracas as wide as 612.84 square meters, Waru Park, Kelapa Dua Wetan as wide as 338.16 square meters, Kelapa Dua Lake, Kelapa Dua Wetan as wide as 56,000 square meters, and Ujung Menteng Park, Cakung as wide as 563.63 square meters.

The five city forests in East Jakarta include Rawa Dongkal City Forest, Ciracas as wide as 86,736.47 square meters, Ujung Menteng City Forest, Cakung as wide as 378 square meters.

Then Sunter Hulu City Forest, Cipayung as wide as 30,000 square meters, Aneka Elok City Forest, Cakung as wide as 21,357 square meters, and Pondok Ranggon City Forest, Cipayung as wide as 4,400 square meters.
