Anti-Littering Act Operation in West Jakarta Intensified

The West Jakarta Environment Sub-agency (LH) keeps intensifying action against the perpetrators of littering.

West Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head, Slamet Riyadi said that sanctions for residents who litter are stated in Bylaw No. 3/2013 on Waste Management.

"During November 2022, we intensified the Anti-Littering Act Operation (OTT) and managed to catch 20 people. The total fine reached Rp 1,050,000 and was deposited in the regional treasury," he expressed, Friday (12/9).

Hence, residents are urged to continuously maintain cleanliness by not littering, especially in micro and macro channels.

"Garbage can trigger floods, spread disease, and damage the aesthetics of cities," he explained.

He added outreach and education to residents continue to be carried out and it is hoped that residents are aware not to litter indiscriminately.

"Let's keep the environment clean. If not us, then who?," he stressed.
