Acting City Secretary, Uus Kuswanto, witnessed the inauguration procession for the Jakarta City Hall-DPRD Coordinating Journalists (Balkoters) for the 2022-2024 period at Candi Bentar, Putri Duyung Cottage, Ancol, North Jakarta, Friday (12/9) evening.

The inauguration procession was carried out as part of a series of Media Gathering events for the Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) with Balkoters with the theme "Synergizing to Develop Jakarta".

According to Kuswanto, the role of journalists is very important in conveying information related to development as well as providing constructive criticism for good.

"Through the role of the media, the public can find out what the government is doing. Hopefully, the partnership and synergy that has been established can be continuously improved," he expressed.

He congratulated the board members who were confirmed with the hope that they would carry out the mandate and carry out their duties as well as possible.

"I congratulate you guys. Media friends are development heroes," he expressed.

Jakarta Disckominfotik Acting Head, Raides Aryanto stated that the Jakarta administration was committed to supporting journalists working at Jakarta City Hall and DPRD.

"We provide a representative coordinating workspace with adequate supporting facilities and infrastructure," he explained.

He added that other facilities provided adequate internet network access. So, in the current digital era, the acceleration of the work of journalists is not hampered.

"We will also increase the internet bandwidth allocated for media partners," he asserted.

Diskominfotik also coordinated with the KDH Bureau, thus journalists on duty at Jakarta City Hall and DPRD could enjoy free lunch

"We continue to build this synergy because of the important role of the media for the administration in disseminating accurate and factual information. Surely, we know the media is also an important part of educating the public," he added.

City Hall-DPRD Jakarta Journalist Coordinating Chairman, Sammy Edward Wattimena expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the administration through the Diskominfotik for supporting the work of journalists at their assigned places.

"I'm grateful, so far Diskominfotik as a Balkoters partner has provided us with extraordinary support," he explained.

The Media Gathering is routinely held with the Diskominfotik. However, it has indeed stopped since there was the pandemic.

"It's great that tonight we can hold another Media Gathering with Diskominfotik and the inauguration of Balkoters management. Hope this synergy can be maintained and improved in the future," he stated.
