Heru Hopes Creation of Investment Acceleration in Jakarta

To accelerate investment licensing in Jakarta, Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono received a visit from the Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Bahlil Lahadalia and his staff at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (1/3).

I thank Mr. Minister

This meeting aimed to discuss related to Electronically Integrated Business Licensing or Online Single Submission (OSS). It was because the licensing was issued by the OSS Agency for and on behalf of the Minister, Head of Institution, Governor, or Regent/Mayor to Entrepreneur through an integrated electronic system.

The Acting Governor appreciated the cooperative effort between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Central Government, particularly the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, as it was deemed to be the initial foundation for creating an accelerated investment licensing process.

"I thank Mr. Minister for sharing various data for the benefit of accelerating licensing in Jakarta, including through OSS. Aside that, we were also briefed by the Minister regarding investment," he expressed.

He went on to say that to realize these efforts, the Jakarta Government would prepare a team that will formulate the acceleration, namely from all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) to sub-district and urban village levels.

"We are in Jakarta to the urban village and sub-district. Therefore, everything needs to be synchronized. Earlier, the Minister suggested forming a simple team, one or two (staff). Further, it will be thorough in the discussion of spatial planning. We will send the details (spatial layout) to the minister. Thus, everything can be coordinated," he added.

Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia welcomed the cooperation efforts with the Jakarta Government, thus the agreement could increase the acceleration of investment licensing. Additionally, it could open space for Jakarta residents to get jobs, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We have agreed (with the Jakarta Government) regarding increasing investment acceleration, one of the conditions is the ease of doing business, surely related to accelerated licensing," he expressed.

"We have agreed to form a small team in a bid to analyze what can be done to help Jakarta's business world. We think this must be achieved, as if it is not developed, these efforts will be hampered (the investment licensing process). So, we don't want to hinder job creation," he concluded.
