Heru Appreciates Synergy of RW and Forkopimda in Protecting Jakarta

Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono, accompanied by East Jakarta Mayor M Anwar and his staff, attended the East Jakarta Resident Association (RW) Association event, at Velodrome, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, Saturday (1/14).

This activity was initiated by cooperation between the three pillars, namely Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta Provincial Government, and Kodam Jaya. It was also attended by Polda Metro Jaya Chief, Insp. Gen. Pol. Fadil Imran and his staff, and Military Commander, Maj. Gen. TNI Untung Budiharto and his staff.

On that occasion, the Acting Governor expressed his appreciation to 707 RW chairmen, 65 village superintendents (Babinsa), and 65 Bhayangkara Trustees of Community Security and Order (Babinkamtibmas) throughout East Jakarta for their efforts in protecting and caring for Jakarta.

"Appreciation is given for the support to the East Jakarta administration in running government programs, such as in managing crossing channels and coastal embankments, as well as in carrying out national strategic programs such as tackling floods. Thank you also for providing a proper place for the affected residents (when the flood disaster occurred)," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He then reminded the participants who attended the activity, that the RW element is part of the regional government apparatus. So, they would take part in carrying out security programs from the Police and the TNI, as well as jointly maintaining security in various activities by synergizing with one another.

"We have to maintain a good environment at the RT/RW level. To RT/RW chairmen, we want you to continuously monitor residents in the neighborhood by continuing to understand and protect them, including socializing government programs to the community," he explained.

"We also keep focusing on paying attention to residents whose welfare needs help, where the government has provided a lot of subsidies. That's why we have to maintain security and public order for mutual convenience," he added.

Polda Metro Jaya Chief, Gen. Pol. Fadil Imran also assessed that the RW role was very important, as, besides the most basic administrative matters, matters of prevention and law enforcement required by the police also need them.

"Moreover, if they can protect their residents, especially since they were teenagers so they can prevent the seeds of crime in their respective environment," he stated.
