Jakarta Prepares 2023 ASEAN Summit Kick Off

The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently carrying out preparations for the Kick Off Ceremony for the 2023 ASEAN Summit which will be held in Bundaran HI area on Sunday (1/29) tomorrow.

Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau Head, Marulina Dewi stated that the kick off ceremony is a synergy between the Jakarta Government and the Foreign Ministry.
This ASEAN Summit carries the theme 'ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth', with the hope that it could bring up new ideas and initiatives in overcoming challenges and crucial issues of concern in the ASEAN region and the world.

She added that tomorrow's event coincides with the implementation of Car Free Day (CFD). Where, VIP guests, ASEAN ambassadors, and other high-ranking Indonesian officials would virtually mingle with Jakartans and internationally.
"This kick off is to prove that we are ready to host the series of ASEAN Summit because those who are witnessing are not only domestic but international," she continued.
Tomorrow's event starts from 6.30 AM to 9 AM with a series of events such as a parade show, the ASEAN Kick Off from President, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and a talk show to explain Indonesia's Keketuaan (Chairmanship) ASEAN.
"This event will be lively, as there will be a parade of ASEAN flags, archipelago clothing, marching bands, to the main stage with performers who will entertain residents. We also ensure that the activities of residents who want to run CFD won't be disturbed," she added.
ASEAN Socio-Cultural Cooperation Director, Yuliana Bahar who is a Ministet of Foreign Affairs explained preparations for the kick off ceremony had gone well and smoothly without any problems.
He appreciated the Jakarta Government for taking the initiative and making the ASEAN Summit series successful. It was hoped that the collaboration between these partnerships would continue and produce maximum results.
"Hopefully, it will run smoothly because we have a goal to increase people's awareness that in 2023 Indonesia will become the chairmanship of ASEAN," she closed.
