We discussed the readiness for the 2023 ASEAN Summit
To prepare for it, Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono held discussions with various parties, including the Foreign Ministry. He received the visit from the Foreign Minister Secretary General, Cecep Herawan and Ministry's Protocol and Consular Affairs Director General, Andy Rachmianto at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (1/6).
"We discussed the readiness for the 2023 ASEAN Summit regarding infrastructure and locations that heads of state must attend," he expressed.

"The next agenda will be continued with the Foreign Minister and related ministries, we will tour," he stated.
On the other side, Foreign Minister Secretary General, Cecep Herawan revealed that starting in January Indonesia had become the Chair of ASEAN. With the spirit of ASEAN chairmanship, his party wanted people to feel it too.
"Therefore, because Jakarta is of course the biggest, we also want to ask the governor for support. There needs to be synergy on how we can start socializing together regarding this ASEAN chairmanship. We at the Ministry are also conducting assessments related to the implementation later, as the time is very short until September. We want to explore first with the Acting Governor what things we can link together in supporting the success of the 2023 ASEAN chairmanship," he explained.
According to him, two things need to be successful. First, regarding substance, what can be given to the community and ASEAN regionally and the second is how to take advantage of ASEAN chairmanship to show Indonesia's progress.
"There will be many ASEAN meetings throughout the year, around 2,000 more and the majority of these meetings will be in Jakarta. Why, because the ASEAN secretariat is in Jakarta. We will encourage the ASEAN Secretariat as the host. Therefore, the surrounding infrastructure is good, also supportive. That's why, the role of the Acting Governor and his staff is very crucial, how to ensure that this series of meetings go well in Jakarta," he explained.
