Jakarta on Alert as Water Level Rises in Katulampa

The Katulampa Sluice Gate's water level has reached on alarming 100 centimeters or alert III status, following heavy rain in Bogor since yesterday. The data was recorded at around 3 PM, Thursday (2/12).
Officer of the Emergency Operation Command Center (Pusdalops) for Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Suratman disclosed,at 12 PM, the water level was still normal or showing on alert III status. But it continues to rise gradually.

He assessed, the condition will have an impact on another sluice, Depok. Flood is predicted to hit Jakarta and its surrounding area about nine hours ahead. "Perhaps, the water comes at 12 AM," he predicted.
Some urban villages that will be inundated are Cawang, Bukit Duri, Kampung Melayu, and Bidara Cina. The early warning had been announced to the citizens in such residential.
Meanwhile, as many as 11 other sluice gates are still on alert IV status with varying water levels. They are Depok (115 cm), Manggarai (650 cm), Karet (390 cm), Krukut Hulu (80 cm), Pesanggrahan (80 cm), Angke Hulu (120 cm), Cipinang Hulu (90 cm), Sunter Hulu (50 cm), Pulo Gadung (370 cm), Pluit Dam (-125 cm), and Pasar Ikan (155 cm).
