250 Ton of Trash Transported from Teluk Gong Reservoir

North Jakarta Administration held communal work at Teluk Gong reservoir after the flood in the area receded and left a lot of garbage in the reservoir at Pejagalan urban village, Penjaringan sub-district, Sunday (2/15). As a result, a total of 250 ton trash succesfully transported from the reservoir.

Moreover, Bondan Diah Ekowati, North Jakarta Cleanliness sub-dept. head said, all urban villages simultaneously held the communal work today. A total of 1,600 ton garbage was successfully transported from Pejagalan urban village, Papanggo, and Kelapa Gading Timur to Pulogebang landfill, Bekasi.

"We deployed 234 fleets to support the trash picking process at Teluk Gong reservoir that reached 250 ton of trash,” said Ekowati, Thursday (2/15).

Flood in Jakarta Receded Drastically

Furthermore, Ekowati continued, her side involved a total of 1,600 joint personnel from Satpol PP, Cleanliness sub-dept., Bina Marga sub-dept., Water Management sub-dept., Health sub-dept., North Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue, and Military/Police. Besides clean up the trash, the personnel also clean the canal, fogging, and giving the disinfectant (disolisasi).

North Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi said, fogging and giving the disinfectant activity was held to anticipate the disease to appear. "I hope the canal was also being fixed and cleaned," he said.

Efendi added, the mud also needs to be cleaned to prevent puddle re-turn to the road after downpour.

"After that, we will improve the damaged road. We improve the road temporarily to prevent the casualities due to potholes," he added.
