235 Porters of Gambir Train Station Get Staple Food and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

Very happy. I'll make the best use of this BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency held a social service by providing basic food packages and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan to 235 porters at the Gambir Train Station, Central Jakarta.

It was centered in the Gambir Train Station's VIP Room and was held in commemoration of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month.

Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency Head, Andri Yansyah said the purpose of giving the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan card was to minimize accidents and create a workplace situation that is safe, comfortable, and could increase productivity.

"Hope this activity can realize the self-reliance of a K3 cultured society," he expressed, at the location, Tuesday (2/21).

He went on to say that porter was chosen as the beneficiary, as he is a worker who is prone to work accidents.

"Their profession needs our attention," he continued.

Central Jakrata Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Sub-agency Head, Sudrajat added the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan contributions distributed to the 235 porters would be covered by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for three months.

"This is to stimulate the porters. After three months, they can pay individually by Rp 16,800 per month," he said.

By paying the fee, they already got free medical expenses when hit by a work accident.

The ccardholder'sheirs would also receive compensation by Rp 48 million and a scholarship from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan if the policyholder dies due to a work accident.

"They also get Rp 42 million if the policyholder dies due to illness," he added.

Ruswanto (50), one of porters at Gambir Train Station admitted that he was happy to have BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and receive a basic food package.

He admits that his profession as a porter was very vulnerable to work accidents. With BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, there is less worry about the fate of his family if something unexpected happens.

"Very happy. I'll make the best use of this BPJS Ketenagakerjaan," he stated.
