Trees and Ornamental Planted in 587 Locations

Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency (Distamhut) has noted as many as 2,562 trees and 624,152 ornamental plants have been planted in 587 locations since the beginning of the year.

Those trees are from the results of compensation

Data and Information Center Head, Ivan said plantation of trees and ornamental plants was prioritized in Jakarta Provincial Government's assets which had not yet been built for social and public facilities.

Most trees planted were tabebuya, mundu, mahogany, spathodea, ketapang, and bintaro. While ornamental plants were bougenville, pacing, lantana, pucuk merah, kana, and ararea.

"Those trees are from the results of compensation for the replacement of trees affected by logging in Jakarta," he expressed, Saturday (3/11).

According to him, more than 20,000 trees will be planted this year, especially in areas that have not been planted or affected by infrastructure development.

"Such as under Becakayu Toll Road, Desari Toll Road, on side of the East Flood Canal area from Rorotan to Marunda," he explained.

He added tree planting is a form of Jakarta Government's commitment and consistency in creating a greener and more beautiful Jakarta city, as well as realizing environmental sustainability in Jakarta.
