As reported earlier, as many as 500 volunteers took part in the Clean Indonesia Day - National Waste Awareness Day (HBI-HPSN) 2023 event held at Thamrin 10, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday (2/19) morning.
Today's action is expected to encourage other people to take part in keeping their environment clean
Besides conducting the cleanup action, volunteers also held an Education Parade to educate residents to reduce, sort, and process waste (KuPiLa) with their waste.
In between the parades, flash mob groups performed choreography that contained values and education related to KuPiLa. The Parade accompanied by tanjidor music group and ondel-ondel puppet dance was done to further enliven the event and participants also carried kentongan (a list drum) as a symbol of invitation to residents.
Governor Hopes RDF Plant to Become Integrated Waste Management Solution"This parade will certainly attract the attention of many people because the Car Free Day location is always busy being the location for sports as well as other events and activities," stated Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Agus Kuswanto.
Today's event at the main location ended with a talk show presenting Take Care of the Earth with Innovation. He explained that this material was in line with the HPSN 2023 theme from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, namely 'Complete Waste Management for Community Welfare'
"The talk show is getting livelier with the appearance of singer Nugie," he added.
He went on to say that the cleanup action was also held by the RW Waste Management Sector (BPS) in their respective areas. Hundreds of RWs along with thousands of volunteers were seen taking part in this action.
BPS RW would also assist residents in planting crops in their respective areas. The plant seeds planted were provided by various donors and were in the form of fruit seeds and family medicinal plants. The clean action and planting of plants were also accompanied by a talk show with the theme 'Save the Earth with Innovation'.
“The purpose of this planting is a form of greening. Today's action is expected to encourage other people to take part in keeping their environment clean," he stated.
He added that the HSPN is a reminder of the landslide that occurred at the Leuwigajah TPA, Cimahi, West Java on February 21, 2005.
Meanwhile, HBI is a clean-up action carried out simultaneously in one day in Indonesia to increase awareness of the problem of plastic waste and garbage, as well as educate residents to care more about the environment.
"With this moment, it is hoped that people will pay more attention to the handling and management of waste in their respective environments," he uttered.
As for the information, this year's Jakarta HPSN commemoration carries the theme Minimize Waste, Maximize Recycling. Meanwhile, the big theme of National Waste Awareness Day is Complete Waste Management for Community Welfare.
