Heru Prompts City's Economic Acceleration by Opening City/District Musrenbang

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono opened the Development Plan Meeting (Musrenbang) for the Central and South Jakarta administration at their respective Mayor's offices on Thursday (3/16).

Musrenbang is intended to discuss regional level development program/activities plans originating from community aspirations, and regional development priorities.

On that occasion, he conveyed various directions for the progress of the city.

"My directions are related to countermeasures in alleviating traffic jams, floods, poverty, and stunting. Including strengthening and beautifying infrastructure as part of supporting the Keketuaan (Chairmanship) ASEAN event," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (3/16).

Musrenbang activities were held by exploring the entire administrative city/district area of Jakarta as the basis for the 2024 Regional Development Work Plan (RKPD). In his direction, he also prompted his staff to coordinate and synergize with each other, especially to anticipate economic conditions. 2024 is predicted to be the year of recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, a global recession is expected to threaten in 2023. Economic acceleration is certainly needed, thus economic conditions can recover as before the pandemic.

"Because this year's Musrenbang discussion is for policies in 2024, we must all be aware of potential economic conditions. Hence, a social security network is needed, where the PPKUKM Agency, Dukcapil Agency, and Bappeda work together to read the situation going forward," he explained.

In line with that, the 2023-2026 Jakarta Regional Development Plan (RPD) focuses development in 2024 on increasing city resilience through strengthening an inclusive economy and strengthening the quality of basic services. Thereby, the theme for the development of the 2024 RKPD is "Transformation of Jakarta as a Resilient, Competitive, and Sustainable City for Indonesia".

The 2024 development plan will prioritize addressing six issues, namely: flood prevention, traffic jam management, anticipating the impact of an economic recession, poverty alleviation, accelerating stunting reduction, and strengthening democratic values.
