652 AKAP Buses Undergo Ramp Check

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has been holding ramp checks at four terminals from March 27 to April 13, 2023.

Those four terminals are Kampung Rambutan, Kalideres, Tanjung Priok, and Pulogebang. It is noted that as many as 652 AKAP buses had passed the technical feasibility stage along with the documents or letters as of Thursday (4/6).

Road Transport Terminal Management Unit (UPTAJ) Head, Syamsul Mirwan said a ramp check is carried out to ensure the bus is fit for the operation ahead of Idul Fitri 1444 Hijri transportation period.

Components checked include lighting systems, tires, wipers, seat belts, and braking. In addition, the officers also checked the assistive devices on the vehicle such as a glass breaker, a light fire extinguisher, an emergency exit, etc.

As for the inspection of documents includes the results of the road test, Supervisory Cards, or Route Permit Cards issued by the Transportation Ministry and vehicle registration certificates (STNK).

"This is done to provide an opportunity for buses that do not meet technical or administrative feasibility to correct or complete deficiencies," he expressed, Monday (4/10).

Based on the results of the ramp checks, it was found that minor-scale operational infeasibilities, such as malfunctioning of turn signals, tires, wipers, and the unavailability of glass-breaking hammers and portable extinguishers (APAR).

"PO and the bus crew concerned have been given notes to repair and complete. So far, it's still a minor scale, we ask them to follow up immediately, " he uttered.

He added it would be intensified during the Idul Fitri transportation period from April 14 to May 2, 2023. If buses were found that were unfeasible, they would be penalized for not being able to operate. It will be special attention to all Heads of AKAP Service Terminal Service Units to provide replacement buses in coordination with AKAP bus companies.
